| Catherine Kolkmeier began her career in the biological sciences as an environmental consultant and later was a fundraiser and grant writer for environmental nonprofits. She began Plain English Professional Writing Services in 2002 as a way to put her communication skills to work for the benefit of both the scientific and business communities. She holds an MS in Life Sciences and a Certificate in Technical Communication. In 2007, she was hired to direct the La Crosse Medical Health Science Consortium in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Catherine is a member of the Plain Language Association International, Wisconsin Innovation Network, and the Wisconsin Biotechnology and Medical Device Association.
